Buying an electric scooter may not be tough, but maintaining it may be difficult. If one, does not look for it from the beginning. Then it becomes quite difficult to take care of it later. You should be active towards the proper maintenance of the vehicle. This will help you to solve minor issues yourself, and your e-scooter will run in good condition for a long time.
I claim my words about all this as I went through a stormy sea of such problems. Let me share the trouble that I overcame. Once, While starting my electric scooter it showed an E2 error and did not accelerate, I was worried as the incident took place while returning home from an empty road. Sadly there was no one to assist me and had to cover the path by walking.
No sooner did I reach home, than I found out that an uninformed conference was assigned tomorrow. I decided to take the initiative of fixing my electric scooter in that instance. I started researching and collecting the information and techniques. I tried these techniques on my electric scooter which gave me a wonderful response to my surprise. Let me share my experience which will surely help you out.
What is an E2 error?
It is an error code shown or displayed on the screen of the electric scooter indicating an issue with the throttle, also commonly referred to as an accelerator. Both the terms (throttle/accelerator) are often used interchangeably. This error code may differ from model to model. In most electric scooters, there is an inbuilt code that helps to specify any problem like battery, motor, technical glitch, or issues in the controller. Please refer to the user manual before trying to solve the error as it may contain some useful information that may help you to relate to the problem. Here is the process for “How to fix E2 error on an electric scooter?”
How to resolve it?
Step 1:
First, turn the electric scooter upside down and open its base. Look for any disconnected or torn-apart wires. Connect these wires or sort them. Once connected, cover them properly using an electric tape so that they are firmly attached.
Step 2:
Dismantle the handlebar using a screwdriver. Once it is dismantled, check for any disconnected wires. As it is a continuity issue in the accelerator, pull the handles off and use a 2.5 mm hex wrench to loosen the accelerator on the handlebar, once you can slide the accelerator up to grip, you may observe that it has torn apart from the wiring harness. In such a case you must connect the wire first by sorting the ends of the wires.
Step 3:
Now you inspect the top of the handlebar and check whether there is a break in the wiring cable. Measure the handlebars to check whether the handlebar is shifted from its center. The reason behind these might be an accident or several falls.
Step 4:
Once the screw is loosened, open the cover of the screen with the help of the channel lock without damaging it. Pull out the LED display board by removing tiny head screws, and keep it in the tray to make sure you don’t lose the screws.
Step 5:
To join the wires, you can use a solder machine and splice connector (you can get one from Amazon at around $12). There is a wiring harness inside the handle, disconnect it before you start splicing and soldering. Once all the tiny wires are disconnected from the harness, strip and solder back together and wrap them in electrical tape.
Step 6:
Now check whether the headlights are working after a double tap on the power button. Once you have turned on the brake, make the brake light on the rear flash when compressed. The accelerator will work now because there is no more E2 error, you will be able to spin the wheel by pressing the accelerator.
